Kelly Fritz is an American filmmaker based in the Raglan region. After immigrating in 2017, she found her place in the flourishing Waikato filmmaking community by joining the crew as 1st AD on the local short film, Blink. A versatile creative, she takes on the roles of writer, producer, director, and production designer.
Her Bachelor of Arts in TV & Film Production from Western Kentucky University and double minors in film theory and gender studies support her kaupapa of filmmaking through an intersectional feminist lens.
Kelly draws inspiration from experimental filmmakers such as Maya Deren and Len Lye, incorporating avant-garde and found footage techniques into her creative practice. She embraces the female gaze, challenging conventional narratives in her stories.
